STEP® is an innovative educational programme, specifically designed to help optometry students succeed.
How Can STEP® Help You?
STEP® is a completely free of charge educational programme that is open to all UK optometry students and has been designed specifically to complement and support you as an optometry student no matter what your route to qualification. The STEP® programme focuses on developing you to become a well-rounded and competent optometrist at every stage and in all required skills from undergraduate to newly qualified and provides various learning experiences from webinars, online content, podcasts, quizzes and face to face courses - content created for you no matter how you like to learn. The STEP® programme has been developed by a dedicated team of clinicians - most of whom are College of Optometrists assessors/examiners or UK University lecturers and as a programme it consists of four tiers.
STEP® Bronze - created to support you in your final teaching years at University.
STEP® Silver - developed to support when you are in your pre-reg/placement year and/or seeing more of your own patients.
STEP® Gold - vital final exam support, regardless of your route to qualification.
STEP® Newly Qualified - there for you up to four years post qualification.
To progress from one tier to the next you can choose the content/learning style that you feel is most beneficial and gain credits to earn your spot on the next tier.
We really look forward to welcoming you on to the programme!
