ACUVUE® BLINK STABILIZED® Design vs. Ballasted Design
Prism-Free Optic Zone*3
Would you ever intentionally add prism for a patient who doesn’t need it?
~50% of patients with astigmatism >0.75D are monocular astigmats.4
Induced vertical prism forces the eyes to do extra work to align images.11

*Vertical phorias possibly caused by prism dissociation due to the presence of induced optical prism is a relevant factor for practitioners to consider when fitting toric contact lenses for monocular astigmats or those requiring a mix of toric soft contact lens designs. Clinical studies have not been done to fully characterize the clinical effects of differences in base down prism among different contact lenses.

†Clinical trial results posted on ClinicalTrials.gov, a website maintained by the NIH, were reviewed as of April 30, 2026. The 47 clinical trials evaluated subjective comfort as a primary or secondary endpoint for the ACUVUE® OASYS Brand family (including daily disposable families), the 1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST Brand family (within the category of hydrogel daily disposable), and the ACUVUE® VITA® Brand family, vs. competitors’ products.

¶Helps protect against transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into the eye.
#WARNING: UV-absorbing contact lenses are NOT substitutes for protective UV-absorbing eyewear such as UV-absorbing goggles or sunglasses because they do not completely cover the eye and surrounding area. You should continue to use UV-absorbing eyewear as directed. NOTE: Long-term exposure to UV radiation is one of the risk factors associated with cataracts. Exposure is based on a number of factors such as environmental conditions (altitude, geography, cloud cover) and personal factors (extent and nature of outdoor activities). UV-blocking contact lenses help provide protection against harmful UV radiation. However, clinical studies have not been done to demonstrate that wearing UV-blocking contact lenses reduces the risk of developing cataracts or other eye disorders. Consult your eye care practitioner for more information.
